A fruit bowl built entirely out of wire. Dozens of slim silver spokes sweep up from a solid round base, fan open into a deep bowl, and finish in a smooth rolled rim that holds the whole shape together. The pedestal does the same thing in reverse — the wires pull in tight at the waist, then flare out to a wide foot, so the bowl looks like it's lifting off the table. It's a clean mid-century modern shape with no ornament at all; the pattern comes from the spacing of the wires and the way light runs down each one. Fill it with oranges and lemons, and the color shows straight through the openwork. Set it out empty, and it reads as sculpture. Good on a kitchen counter for fruit, on a dining table with rolls and bread, or on a console with nothing in it at all.
