A big, natural fire coral with real sculptural presence. Tall, flat blades rise from one end like a fan of fingers, while a long, low arm stretches out the other side, so it reads a little like a wave about to break. The surface is covered in soft knobs and ridges with a fine pinhole texture you can only see up close, plus a few small holes and tiny shells left by sea life. The color is a warm chalk white with soft cream and tan in the deep spots.
It looks great from every angle: stand it upright for height, or lay it low on a console, mantel, or bookshelf. It even works as a natural stand for a small plate (see photo). An estate find, and one of a kind — no two corals grow alike.
