Hubley cast iron doorstop, Wire Fox Terrier

A good, heavy cast iron terrier standing at attention — ears up, tail high, one paw forward like he's just heard something at the door. The original hand-painted surface is all there: warm tobacco brown over a black saddle and mask, with a thin green collar still visible at his throat and the white of the undercoat coming through the high points where a century of hands and doorframes have worn it back. The coat is cast with real texture.

Hollow cast in two halves and weighted like these were meant to be — this one does his job. Equally at home holding a door, anchoring a stack of books, or just standing guard on a shelf. Honest wear, honest paint, and a face with a lot of personality.
