A handsome English Victorian rosewood dresser box with the kind of figured grain that changes with the light — warm honey one moment, deep chocolate the next. The lid is set with a flush brass campaign handle over an engraved cartouche with a gothic-script monogram, and it opens to a proper fitted interior: a lift-out silk-lined, zinc-fitted divided tray and deep compartments below. A shallow velvet-lined drawer runs along the base for the things you want tucked away. It still locks, and the original key turns. Blue felt underneath, worn soft with time. A working piece of furniture in miniature — the sort of box that has kept somebody's small treasures for well over a century.

Dimensions: 6 1/2" H x 10 3/4" W x 8 1/4" D

Medium: Rosewood with brass mounts; zinc-lined fitted tray, silk and velvet lining, felt-covered base

Age: 19th century

Origin: England

Signature/mark: No maker's mark. Engraved brass cartouche on the lid with a gothic-script monogram, appearing to read "ACS"

Disclosures: Sold as-is in antique condition. There are slight chips to the wood and a larger crack across the right side of the lid (see photos). The interior lining shows significant age — the red silk and paper panels are worn, stained, and lifting in places, with losses to the tray coverings. Lock functions and the original key is included. Monogram read visually. Colors may vary slightly by screen.
