A quietly beautiful carved alabaster bust of a young woman in a hood, her eyes lowered, and her cloak caught mid-gust behind her. The carving is soft and confident — you can see the wind in it, the way the drapery lifts off her shoulder and folds back on itself, and how the stone thins almost to a shell at the edges. The alabaster itself does half the work: creamy white through the face and throat, warming to honey and smoke through the hood, with faint rust-colored veining running like weather across the surface.
She sits on her original tapered plinth, signed on the reverse. Turn her, and she changes — pensive from the front, almost melancholy in profile. The kind of piece that gives a shelf or console some real presence.

Disclosures: Sold as-is in antique condition. A corner of the hood has been broken and reattached — the repair line is visible across the back of the hood with a small associated loss at the break edge (see photos). There is also visible natural veining and a faint hairline near the temple, along with light surface soiling and minor edge nicks consistent with age. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone and should be kept dry and dusted gently.
